To Whom it May Concern:
I found your website while searching for Wallace, NY and thought that the following info might be of interest to your organization. I have attached an old picture that I took in the early 1960's of the Wallace train station. I could not find any information on the town of Wallace so I am assuming that it is in the township of Avoca. Before I get to far along with this note I should introduce myself. My name is Bob Rowe and I now live just outside of Williamsburg, VA but my home town was originally Avon, NY. Back in the 60's I used to drive back and forth to Corning on the old Rt #15 as I have relatives there. On one of the trips I decided to photograph the Wallace train station. I love old buildings and history. That train station as well as a number of others from Avon to Corning are very memorable to me. As a young child in the late 1940's my parents would put my two brothers and I on the train (Erie Railroad) to go visit our Grandfather (John Rowe, Captain, Corning City Police at that time) in Corning. Anyway, enough rambling. I have an old approx 11"X14" B&W print suitable for framing. If you would like it for your collection or know of someone that might like it let me know. It is not Sepia toned like the one attached (I did that on the computer). My email address is: rerowe@cox.net Best Regards, Bob Rowe |
