Will Tell P. T. A. of Hammondsport's New School House Pulteney, Dec
9-The regular monthly meeting of our Parent-Teachers Association will be
held at the school Friday evening, December 13, at 8 O' clock. Following
the business meeting, those present will have an opportunity to listen
to a talk by Paul W. Seager, principal of the Hammondsport High
School, who will tell us all about the new building and courses to be taught
in the new school when completed. A social hour will follow this program.
All who are interested in our school life are cordially invited to attend.
Last Friday afternoon the P. T. A. sponsored a spelling contest in the
school, the 6th and 8th grades participating. This contest are aroused
much interest in the district. The prizes of $1.00 to the winners of each
grade were won by Anna Minnerly in the 8th grade, who spelled 100 words
correctly, with Thelma Kennedy coming in as a close second, spelling 88
words correctly. The 6th grade prize will be divided between Mary Sands
and Lauretta McConnell, who made a tie, spelling correctly all words
given them from the entire year's lessons and still "going strong." The
prizes will be awarded at the Friday evening meeting.

Betty Stone Will Lead The Pulteney Union Christian Endeavor
Society will meet next Sunday evening at 6:45 in the Methodist church to
discuss "Religion." The Juniors will meet in the same church at 3 o'clock.
Miss
Betty Stone will lead the meeting and the discussion of "My Favorite
Christmas Hymn."

Rebekahs to Hold Card Party The Rebekahs will hold another card party
in their lodge rooms Monday evening, December 16, at 8 o'clock. There will
also be music for anyone wishing to dance. It is hoped there will be a
good attendance. Prizes at the party last Monday night were won by E.
M. Prentiss, first in bridge;
George Van Amburg, of Prattsburg, first in Five Hundred; and
Miss
Maude Tobey, the door prize.

William Peck and family gave a thirty-five minute entertainment
at the dedication of the new Grange Hall in Howard last week. Grand Master
Freestone was present at the dedication. Mr. and Mrs. F. D. Burger
spent
the week end with relatives in Rochester. Clarence White, of Philadelphia,
Pa., spent the week end with his aunts, Miss Ida Osborne and Mrs. Edna
Nichols. He was the guest Saturday evening of Willard Ainsworth
and family.Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Carley, of Syracuse were over-Sunday
guest of Charles McConnell and family. F. A. Bailey remains
about the same. He has been ill for two weeks. Mrs. Harold Cincebox entertained
the bridge club at her home Thursday night. John Putnam, of Prattsburg
is visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Coryell. Mr.
and Mrs. Wilbur Stone were in Rochester Saturday on business. John
McConnell is spending the winter with George McConnell and family.

Howard Grange Dedicated Its New Hall Last Week Howard, Dec 9-Howard
Grange No. 976, dedicated their new hall Thursday night, State Master,
Fred
Freestone, Mrs. Freestone and District Deputy and Mrs. Clair Arnburg
assisted in the ceremonies. Twelve Granges of the county were represented
and more than 200 Grangers were present.

J. Elliott Parker died at his farm home on Rumsey Street, Bath, NY Wednesday of this week at 6:55 p.m., aged 80 years. His funeral will be held at the Waldo Funeral Home this (Friday) afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. Fred M. Webber, pastor of the Baptist Church, of which he was a member, officiating, and burial in Nondaga cemetery. Mr. Parker was born in Woodhull, son of John A. and Betsy (Gates) Parker. He had been a resident of Bath the past twelve years, his wife, whose maiden name was Alida A. Harder, preceding him in death four years ago. He is survived by two sons, Elmer Parker, of Pittsburgh, and Daniel Parker, of Cincinnati, Ohio, and by two daughters, Mrs. Harry Severance, of this village, and Mrs. Rose Hitch, of Milford, Delaware; also by a sister, Mrs. Frank Dawson, of Wellsville and ten grandchildren.Mr. Parker was a man of high ideals and a fine sense of obligation as to civic duties. He was always interested in everything intended for the betterment of the community. He was a kind neighbor and a good citizen.
