When I was forced to retire from teaching in 1985 because of a back
injury, I sought new surroundings. I visited Florida and then decided to
move there in 1994. I met Theodore E. (Ted) Haberkorn that year and we
were married June 17, 1995, at St. John Lutheran Church in Winter Park.
He published a smalltown weekly newspaper in Saint Joe, Indiana, for 36
years before retiring and moving to Winter Park. In 1984 he bought
a home on Lake Killarney and that is where we have resided since our marriage
