Here is Mom holding me in the front yard of the Bentley Homestead on
the Eleven Mile. Note the elaborate "gingerbread" on the house which was
built around 1860 by Great-grandfather Nichols and was known originally
as the Nichols Homestead. It was also known to be the largest house on
the Eleven Mile. It later became the Bentley Homestead by marriage.
