OLEAN - Paul Pancio, of Olean, passed away Sunday (Dec 28, 2014) at the Pines Healthcare & Rehabilitation Center, Olean.
Born on Aug 22, 1932, in Olean, he was the son of the late John and Nellie Pancio. Paul resided on Brook St. and most recently at the Pines.
He was a graduate of the Olean High School Class of 1951 and joined the US Air Force after graduation. He took basic training at Sampson Air Force Base and became proficient at a GCA radar mechanic at Keesler Air Force Base. He was stationed at Kimpo Air Force Base, Korea and Connelly Air Force Base, Waco, TX At the time of his discharge, he was an airman first class. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal and United nations Service Medal.
From 1960 to 1970, he worked in the television service department at the Montgomery Ward store in Olean. From 1970 to 1986, he was self-employed, managing his own television Service repair business, Pancio's TV Service.
He is survived by a sister, Rose Kwiatkowski; a sister-in-law, Kay Pancio; special nieces and nephews, Diane (Tom) Simon, Kathy (T0dd) Painter, Barbara (Tom) Raulli, John Moszak Jr., and Jeff (Becky) Moszak and many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grand nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings and spouses, Eva and Albert Plano, Mary and Stanley Piechota, Frank and Maebelle (Pancio) Panco, Ann and Sy Bush, Peter Pancio, Andres and Teresa Pancio, Teresa and Joh Moszak, Helen Scott, a brother Paul Pancio and sister Catherine Pancio.
Family will received friends at the Guenter Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. States St., Olean on Wednesday (Dec 31, 2014) f rom 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at which time funeral and committal services will be held in the funeral home. Father Gregory Dobson, pastor of St. Mary of the Angels Church, will officiate. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
