ALFRED | Margaret A. Canale, 70, of 34 Pine Hill Drive, Alfred passed away Monday, March 25, 2002 at home after an extended illness.

She was born Nov. 14, 1931 in Warsaw, New York, daughter of Eugene and Margaret Regan Holahan. On August 16, 1952, in Warsaw, she married Joseph M. Canale who survives her. She graduated in 1949 from the Warsaw High

School and from the Eastman School of Dental Hygiene in 1950. She had been employed as a county area high school dental hygienist in the early 50's in both Jefferson and Steuben counties. A loving mother, she raised five children and for many years owned and operated Canale's Liquor Store in Alfred, retiring in 1986. She attended the Blessed Sacrament Church in
Andover.

She is survived by 3 sons: Michael (Ellon) Canale of Milan, PA, Patrick (Barbara) Canale of Jamesville, NY and Joseph (Kimberly) Canale of Painted Post; daughters: Sheila (Timothy) Holgate of Chittenango, NY and Marcy Canale of Alfred; grandchildren: Erin and Megan Canale of Milan, PA, Katherine and Christopher Holgate of Chittenango, Juliana and Andrea
Canale of Jamesville and Nicole, Brianna and Claire Canale of Painted Post.

Also surviving are sisters: Mary Jean (Alfred) Feeney of Attica, Sheila (Joseph) Garry of East Aurora and Maureen (Joseph) Hayes of Auburn, California, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday from 9 to 10:00 am at the Andover Blessed Sacrament Church where funeral services will follow at 10:00 am with Rev. Gene Ulrich of St. Brendans Church Almond officiating.

Burial will be at St. Michael's Cemetery in Warsaw.

In lieu of flowers, family request memorials to the Andover Blessed Sacrament Church, Comstock Hospice of the Southern Tier, St. Brendans Church of Almond or St. Judes Church of Alfred, NY. Arrangements by Mulholland-Swan Funeral Home, Inc. of Andover.
