Howard, NY — John P. Kenny, 71, of Walker Road passed away peacefully after a long illness Thursday, January 19, 2012 at his home where he was cared for by his family and Hospice.
John was born February 26, 1940 in Rochester, to Peter and Mary (McFadden) Kenny, who were both natives of Ireland.
On July 4, 1964 in Bath, he married Mary C. Stewart who survives and resides in Howard.
He was predeceased by his parents, two infant children and a brother James Kenny.
John had worked at Kodak for a number of years in Rochester. He then became an electrician moving to Howard in 1973 starting his own electrical contracting business, Kenny Electric. He also enjoyed dealing in real estate. John loved to spend time with his family and hunting and fishing buddies and cherished the special moments spent teaching his son and grand children to fish and hunt. Traveling and vacationing with his family were among his favorite memories.
In addition to his wife Mary, whom he had been married to for 47 years,
John is survived by a son, Tony Kenny of Howard; three grandchildren, Abbott, Kassandra and Kamryn Kenny; and two brothers, Peter (Diana) Kenny of Orlando, FL and Robert (Stella) Kenny of Rochester. He also survived by a sister-in-law, Kathy Kenny of Rochester; nieces and nephews, Tammy, Michael, Ryan, Matt and Maureen; his Godchildren, Ryan, Paul, Claire and Kristin; cousins in Ireland; and many good friends.
At John's request there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A special place of burial and time of remembrance will be made at the convenience of his family and friends.
