|Mr. And Mrs. Zypha Swift Sr. Wed 60 Years
Mr. And Mrs. Zypha Swift Sr. of the Oak Hill Road, Bath RD 4, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary June 21, 1976.
Helen Ross and Zypha Swift were married in Hornell June 21, 1916 at the home of Mr. And Mrs. Howard Nicholson with Rev. Ross Shannon, pastor of the Arkport Methodist Church, performing the ceremony.
The bride’s sister and brother-in-law, Lloyd and Eloise Burdett, were their attendants. Sylvia (Burdett) Hedden, niece of the bride was also present.
For a honeymoon trip, they went by train to Sodus Point.
The Swifts reside on the farm which has been in the family for over 100 years, and in the house that was built by his father, Samuel Swift.
Mrs. Swift, who has been a life-long farmer also served as justice of peace for the town of Howard but 15 years and acted as an assessor for another 15 years.
Mrs. Swift, a former school teacher taught school in West Cameron. The Turnpike. The Stone Jug on Campbell Creek and Oak Hill.
They have three children. Mrs. Ellsworth (June) Roe, Zypha Swift Jr, and Mrs. Alton (Lucille) McCaskill.
They have six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
