1973 - Lucinda Swift recent bride
BATH - Buena Vista Wesleyan Methodist Church was the setting July 21 1973 for the wedding of Miss Lucinda K. Swift, daughter of Mr. Zypha E. Swift Jr. & Leora Swift of Bath, and Thomas R. Burns, son of Mr. And Mrs. Vincent K. Burns of Canisteo RD 2.
The Rev. N. Ward Hall Performed the double Ring ceremony at 2 p.m. Baskets of White gladioli and yellow daisies decorated the sanctuary. Wedding music was played by pianist Mrs. Fred Mears of Springville, cousin of the Bride. Mr. Mears was violinist and guitarist.
The bride, given in marriage by her parents, were a candlelight satin gown fashioned with a high neckline edged with lace, a lace front panel detailed with self buttons, and long sleeves with wife cuffs. Her finger tip ceil was held by a headpiece of white roses and carnations. She carried a bouquet of white roses and miniature carnations.
Miss Natalie Swift of Bath was maid of honor of her sister and Mrs. William Holevinski of Rome sister of the bridegroom was matron of honor.
Darwin Stewart of Canisteo was best man. John C. Pastrick of Horseheads, brother-in-law of the bridegroom, and Gordon L. Swift of Bath, brother-in-law, ushered.
The two attendants were attired in white net gowns re-embroidered with white and green flowers. The waistlines were detailed with mint green velvet ribbon forming a bow and floor-length streamers. They wore white picture hats with matching ribbon streamers and carried nosegays of white carnations, roses and orange blossoms.
A reception was held for about 150 in the Towlesville Grange Hall decorated with a Green and white color theme. Drs. David Burns cut the Cake. Miss Barbara Burns was in Charge of the guest-book
And the Misses Susan Miller and Vicky Simpson poured.
A white and blue knit dress and whit accessories were worn by the bride for a wedding trip to the New England States. Upon their return the couple will reside at Canisteo RD.
The bride is an alumna of Canisteo Central School. Corning Community College and State University College at Geneseo.
The bridegroom, a graduate of Canisteo Central School, is engaged in farming with his father.
Guests attended the wedding from Canisteo, Bath, Hornell, Horseheads, Corning, Rome, Addison, Springville, Greenwood, Batavia, Connecticut and Florida.
