Mary Louw 'Nina' Byrne, loving wife, mother and grandmother
OLEAN - Mary Lou "Nina" Byrne of 213 N. 15th St., Olean, passed away Tuesday (Aug 16, 2011) in the Olean General Hospital emergency room.
Born Nov. 5, 1946, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Mary Grace DiCerbo Marra. On Oct. 24, 1970, in St. John's Church, she married Michael H. Byrne, who survives.
Mary Lou was a graduate of Archbishop Walsh High School, class of 1964, and the Olean BUsiness Institute. She was emplolyed at Premier Banquet Center as a banquet waitress and was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church. Mary Lou loved her grandchildren, cooking and helping other people.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Chris Byrne of Olean and Greg (Marie) Byrne of Charleston, S.C.; six grandchildren, Ashley, Michaela, Christopher, Ryan, Zachary and McGregor; a sister, Camella Marra of Geneseo; a brother, Anthony Marra of Falconer; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; a sister, Teresa Samuelson; and a brother, Louis Marra.
The family will receive friends today from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 1303 E. State St. Funeral services will be held Saturday (Aug 20, 2011) beginning with a prayer service at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Angles Church. Father Larry Searles, SJ, will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
Memorials may be amde to charity of the donor's choice.
