I am seeking any information available concerning my ggg-grandfather HORACE R. HASKINS. I have included a discussion of Horace's in-laws and cousins in law in the hope that a tie can be made. I need to find Horace' place of birth and hopefully, names of his parents.
Horace "appears" in the 1850 federal census in New Albion village, Cattaraugus Co., NY. He is a blacksmith and his origins are unknown. He has recently married RUENAH ARRANTS, a daughter of local farmer and my gggg-grandfather JAMES ARRANTS (later ARNCE) and wife ELIZABETH DREW. Horace and Ruenah have recently married and have a son James (6 mos.). James is listed in the 1830 and 1840 federal censuses as farming in Napoli and Coldsprings Townships (township name change but not the farm location). James brother William died in the fall of 1849, and James obtained guardianship of William's sons Thomas, James, and William. Horace co-signed a guardianship bond with James and William Curtis. William Arrants' daughter Sarah Ann went to live with her sister Experience and her husband William Curtis in Cattaraugus Co.
Horace and Ruenah removed to Saginaw, Michigan about 1858, with children Aris R. (1850) [my gg-grandfather], Eavis (1853), and Susana (1848) [adopted ??]. Daughter Sarah is born in Michigan in 1859.
