Antoinette M. "Ann" Kubiak, beloved wife and mother
Olean - Antoinette M. "Ann" Kubiak, of 115 N. Clinton St., passed away Sunday (Feb 21, 2010) at her home surrounded by her family after a long illness.
Born June 4, 1932, in Olean, the youngest of twelve children of the late Joseph and Sophie Skala Kwiatkowski. On June 19, 1954, in Transfiguration Church, she married Joseph J. Kubiak, who survives.
A lifelong resident of Olean, she was a graduate of Olean High School, Class of 1949. Before her marriage, she worked at Daystrom Corp., and years later she worked at St. Mary of the Angels Church and at its school library.
Ann enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting,cooking, bowling and golfing.
In addition to her husband of 56 years, she is survived by two daughters, Deborah (George) Gibbons of Olean and Linda (Glenn) Pinholster of Athens, Ga; two sons, Stephen (Liz) Kubiak of Allegheny and James (Allison) Kubiak of Olean; five grandchildren, Matthew (Gina) Gibbons, Michael (Katie) Gibbons and Elise Gibbons, all of Buffalo, Lauren and Leah Pinholster, both of Athens, Ga; one great-grandson, Mason Gibbons; a brother, Joseph (Lucy) Kwiatkowski of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters , Theresa Leaskey of Pinehurst, NC, and Mary Pirrello of Olean; and many nieces and nephews.
She was pre-deceased by eight brothers and sisters, infant Frank Kwiatkowski, Gertrude Woodgie, Cecelia Harrington, John Kwiatkowski, Lillian Driscoll, Sabina Nitchie, Edward Kwiatkowski and Vincent Kwiatkowski., maternal grandparents Vincent and Maria Anna Denni -Skala, paternal grandparents John and Catherine Freigant-Kwiatkowski
Family will receive friends Tuesday from 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Guentehr Funeral Home Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday (Feb 24, 2010) at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Angels Church with Father Gregory Dobson, pastor, serving as the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be sent to HomeCare & Hospice, 1225 W. State St., Olean, NY 14760; or to a charity of the donor's choice.
