OLEAN- John B. Noonan of 110 W. Henely St., passed away Monday (Sept 14, 2009) at Olean General Hospital, surrounded by his family, after a short illness.
Born Sept 28, 1917, in Olean, he was a son of the late Michael and Florence Conrath Noonan.
On May 25, 1940, in St. Mary of the Angels Church Rectory, he married the former Marion B. Johnson, who survives.
A lifetime resident of Olean, Mr. Noonan was employed by Dresser-Rand for 39 years before retiring.
He was a meember of Local 4601 Steelworkers Retirees Association.
Surviving besides his wife are three sons, Leo J. (Susan) Noonan of Olean, David M. Noonan of Michigan and Edward "Allen" (Kriste) Noonan of St. Louis, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Megan, Michael, Staci, Sean, Matt, Megan and David John; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary V. Noonan.
There was no visitation. A private funeral service was held today (Wednesday, Sept 16, 2009) in the Guenther Funeral Homer Inc., 1303 E. State St., Olean. Burial was in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice
