: BELFAST- Mrs. Beth Sherwood, 87, of 29 Main ST. died Monday (Oct. 8, 1990) in the Wellsville Manor Nursing Home after a brief illness.
: Born July 1, 1903, in Olean, she was a daughter of Almon and Mary Penfield Harris. In December of 1921, in Olean, she married Royal Luce, who died in 1954. She later married Lawrence Sherwood, in Little Genesee, who died in 1973.
: Mrs. Sherwood resided most of her life in the Black Creek and Little Genesee area and for several years with her husband Royal Luce owned and operated a dairy farm in the Rushford area. In 1954 she moved from Black Creek to Little Genesee, where she lived until moving to Belfast in 1984.
: Mrs. Sherwood attended various area churches, including the Wesleyan Methodist Church in Bellville, and had taught Sunday school in the Little Genesee Seventh Day Adventist Church for several years.
: Surviving are two sons, Royal Luce of Rochester and Edwin Luce of Arizona; two daughters, Mrs. Francis (Lois) Brewer of Belfast and Mrs. Lyle (Carol) Cummins of Winchester, Ky.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Ruth Howell of South Carolina and Mrs. Eva Garner of Leroy; 25 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; a brother, C. Vernon Harris of Rochester, Mich.; and several nieces and nephews.
: She was predeceased by a son, Leo Luce.
: Burial will be in Black Creek Cemetery.
