: Gertrude O. Roeske, devoted and loving mother

: CUBA – Gertrude O. Roeske of 112 South St. died Sunday (Dec. 5, 1999) in Olean General Hospital where she had been a patient since Nov. 28.

: Born Nov. 28, 1903 in Rockville, she was a daughter of William H. and Emma L. Foy Chamberlain. On Feb. 1, 1932, she married Henry O. Roeske, who died Sept. 29, 1969.

: Mrs. Roeske was a registered nurse and a 1928 graduate of Buffalo City Hospital School of Nursing, now known as Erie County Medical Center. She worked as a private duty nurse.

: Mrs. Roeske and her husband donated the property for the North Park Wesleyan Church of Cuba.

: She was a charter member of the North Park Wesleyan Church and she held many positions in the church. She served as secretary for 25 years to the Western New York District of the Wesleyan Women’s Missionary Society. She was an active member of the Cuba Senior Citizens and a former member of the Cuba Historical Society.

: Surviving are a son, William A. (Jane) Roeske of Caneadea; a daughter, Dorothy A. (Melvin) Dye of Cuba; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

: In addition to her husband, Mrs. Roeske was predeceased by four brothers, Paul Chamberlain, Leland Chamberlain, Loren Chamberlain and Harold Chamberlain; and a sister, Grace Chamberlain.

: Friends will be received at the McIntosh Funeral Home (Nicholson Chapel), 24 Genesee Parkway, Cuba, on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (Dec. 8, 1999) at 1 p.m. in the North Park Wesleyan Church, 13 North Park St. The Rev. Steven W. Steele, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Belfast.

: Memorials may be made to the North Park Wesleyan Church, 13 N. Park St., Cuba, N.Y. 14727.
