: CUBA, Jan. 8 -- Funeral services were conducted Tuesday in the Loveridge Funeral Home for Mrs. Hannah Philura Haines, 90, of Chapel St., member of a pioneer Allegany family and former rural school-teacher. Burial was in Cuba cemetery. Mrs. Haines died Sunday.
: Born Feb. 22, 1868, on a nearby Rockville farm which was bordered by the old Genesee Valley Canal, Mrs. Haines attended school in Belfast. She became a teacher in one-room schools when the salary was $2.50 a week.
: After her marriage to Benjamin F. Haines she moved to this village. Mr. Haines died several years ago. Mrs. Haines is survived by a daughter, Mrs. (Mary) Glenn Williams; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren and two brothers, Alpha J. Alsworth of Belmont and Richard Alsworth of Walton.
