: > Leigh O. Meacham, 72 of Farmersville died Wednesdeay, April 19, 1989 at Olean General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
: > Born on March 15, 1917, in Elton, he was a son of Amos an Florence Pettit Meacham. In 1946 in Machias, he married the former Vera Nichols, who survives.
: > Mr. Meacham attended Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, and was employed by Amos Meacham Rendering Company for several years. He also worked for the B&O Railroad and the Ford plant in Buffalo.
: > In addition to his wife, he is survived by five sons, Philip Meacham of Clearwater, Florida, Howard Meacham, Dale Meacham, Ellis Meacham and Hal Meacham, all of Franklinville; three daughter, Dawn Meacham of Gowanda, Sheila (Wayne) Church of Cattaraugus and Bonnie Meacham of Franklinville; four grandchildren; a brother, Floyd Meacham of LeRoy; four sisters, Eva Knight, Mary Howard, and Charlotte Potter, all of Franklinville, and Verna Brown of Arcade; and several nieces an nephews.
: > Mr. Meacham was predeceased by a brother, Maynard Meacham; and a sister, Ada Brown.
: > Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 22 at the Babbitt and Allen Funeral Home, Franklinville. The Reverend David Dunbar, pastor of the Central Baptist Church of Yorkshire, officiated. Burial was in Farmersville Cemetery.
: > Memorial may be made to the Farmersville or Franklinville Fire Department.
