September 7th, 1893.
At eight thirty oclock last evening occurred the marriage of Miss Merta
Sample to E. Ross Nichols, at the home of the brides parents, Mr. and
Mrs. A.J. Sample. Only the near relatives of the young couple being
Attended by the brother of the bride, Jay Sample, and the sister of the
groom, Miss Mary Nichols, the couple took their places under an arch of
Rev. Mr. Miner performed the ceremony according to the Methodist
The happy couple, after receiving the congratulations and good wishes of
those present, were accompanied by the company to the dining room where
an excellent supper was served. The gifts were many, varied and beautiful.
Among the guests from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Wilcox
(Daughter (Delia) and son-in-law (Celestus) of Benjamin Nichols), Mrs. Pearl
Oaks (Daughter of Benjamin Nichols), Miss Mertie Nichols (Daughter of
Benjamin Nichols) and Mr. and Mrs. Otis Sample of Jamestown; Mr. and
Mrs. H. Sample, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Sample (Brother and Sister-in Law of
Brides Father), Miss Lelia Sample (Daughter of Andrew and Laura Sample),
Mr. and Mrs. George Rogers (possibly Jane Rogers Sample parents or
brother), Mrs. Ida Little (possibly a sister or cousin to Jane Rogers Sample)
and Miss Edith Rogers (possibly a sister or cousin to Jane Rogers Sample)
Mr. and Mrs. Nichols will leave this morning for a short trip to Toronto, after which they will be at home in Kennedy.
