Thomas G. Abrams, 59, of 54 Oxford Street, died Thursday, January 10, 2008 in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born September 29, 1948 in Bradford, he was the son of Glenn S. & Marjorie D. Sankner Abrams.
Mr. Abrams was a 1967 graduate of Bradford High School and ATES Technical School in Erie.
He worked for more than 30 years as an engineer working with Automated Guided Vehicle Systems for hospitals. Mr. Abrams first employment was with Amsco Systems Co., a division of American Sterilizer Co., one of the world's largest suppliers of hospital equipment. He installed AGV Systems throughout the country and the world, becoming one of the world's leading advocates of AGV's and robotic systems, with many successful projects.
During his career with Amsco, Mr. Abrams also installed Sterilizing Systems, CargoMaster systems and Automated Cart Washer Systems. He also worked for FMC, with whom he sold more AGS Systems than anyone else within the company. Mr. Abrams also worked with Swisslog and most recently worked as a consulting engineer for the Schachinger Group.
He was a member of St. Bernard Church.
Surviving are one brother, Brian Abrams of Hamburg, New York; two aunts; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mr. Abrams was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Marcia Marie Abrams and Katherine Abrams; and one brother, Patrick Abrams.
At the family's request, there will be no visitation. Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Friday in St. Bernard Church with the Rev. Leo Gallina, pastor, as celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Memorials is desired may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
