Hi Again,

I am sure that several of our membership have Civil War ancestors.

I would like to offer my services to our membership, if anyone is interested ?
I would be happy to track down information and give you a brief military record of your CW ancestors -

I personally teach and research CW history, so I often enjoy researching and tracking information.

Especially if folks are interested in joining the number of CW Descendant groups that are in our WNY area.
(like what I have posted in my previous posting)

What I need is a: name, possible state served, unit number, possible residence or burial location, birth or death dates.
This will make it easier for me to identify the correct soldier

Please let me know how I can help....

Take care
Steve

Dear Steve,
I am a new member to PHGS and have several Civil War soldiers in my family tree including one who was with Sherman and his march to the Sea. I will get back in touch as soon as I look up the regiments etc. A couple of the surnames are Arnold and Butler. I also have Revolutionary soldiers in my family do you know of anyone that works on this? Sincerely, Lorraine

Lorraine,

I would be happy to assist you
Just shoot me a few names and I will do the rest - just give me a complete name and a possible location from where he was from

Look forward to talking to you soon
Steve

Dear Steve,
Thank you so much! One of my relatives that was with Sherman was Abram Arnold. He is buried in the Tyrone Union Cemetery, Schuyler Co. NY. Born 1843 died 1925 son of William S. Arnold and Mary H. Terhume. On his headstone it says NY Co. E. 107th Regt. Vols. (which I assume means volunteers).
I will get back to you about the other men in my family trees that were in the CW. Sincerely,
Lorraine Loomis-Konig
