Hornell/West Almond — Natalie J. Barry-Schmitter, 83, of 1190 County Road 66, passed away peacefully Saturday (Jan. 26, 2013) at home.
Born in Baltimore, Md., Sept. 1, 1929, the daughter of John and Beatrice (Weiss) Boag.
She had resided in the Angelica area for many years. She was a retired elementary school teacher, retiring in 1984 from Holley Central School.
Natalie was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and was also involved in the Crafty Belles and Bone Builders. She enjoyed extensive traveling, the theater, crafts, her family, friends and was always ready for a good laugh.
She was predeceased by her first husband, James V. Barry, in 1998.
She is survived by her husband, Al Schmitter; her two sons, Kevin J. Barry of New Orleans, and Stephen (Christine) Barry of Poughkeepsie; two grandchildren, Michael R.(Stacie) Barry and Brian T. (Jennie) Barry, both of Colorado; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Cameron Barry; five stepchildren, Susan Doucher, John (Sarah) Schmitter, Dorothy (Jim) Helmicki, Frank (Maria) Schmitter, and Judy (Paul) Koph; 20 stepgrandchildren; and 22 stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will be present from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday (Jan. 30, 2013) at the Brown & Powers Funeral Home, 101 West Ave., Angelica, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., with Rev. John Cullen officiating.
Burial will be in Until the Day Dawn Cemetery in Angelica.
