Belfast | Paul Edward Tyler Sr. 64, of 6875 Shaller Rd. passed away Thursday, September 22, 2011 at his home, following a lengthy illness.
Born November 28, 1946 in Wellsville, he was the son of Arthur and Ruth Greene Tyler. On June 8, 1997 in Friendship, he married the former Joan D. Plummer Masten, who survives.
Paul had grown up in Angelica.
He served with the army during the Viet Nam War.
Paul lived many years in Monterey, NY raising his family. He worked at Day Spring apartments in Corning, NY as a maintenance supervisor and later in 1995 he moved to Friendship where he worked as the Manager of Colony Park apartments in Wellsville, NY. Paul and Joan later moved to Belfast in 1998.
Paul enjoyed his horses, woodworking, guitar playing, playing the organ in church, singing, and enjoyed watching his NY Giants football team. He was also an avid member of the Fire Department in Monterey, NY for many years and was the Fire Chief for 3 years. He was also a member of the Oramel United in Christ Community Church and was a lay leader at the church. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
Surviving besides his wife Joan are: 2 sons, Paul E. (Teresa) Tyler Jr. of Kiln, Mississippi, Robert D. (Heather) Tyler of Corning; 2 Daughters, Carrie A. (Ron) Stiles of Painted Post, Christal G. (Scott) Wheeler of Campbell; 2 Step Sons, Carl L. (Chiffon) Masten of Friendship, Todd M. (Starr) Masten of Angelica; 20 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren; 3 Brothers, Charles Tyler of FL, Arthur (Faye) Tyler of TN, Gerald (Delores) Tyler; Sisters, Doris (Frank) Hale of Olean, Cynthia (Lee) Graham of Myrtle Beach, SC, Jean (Clayton) Bentley of Belfast, Dorothy (Larry) Smith of FL, Gail (Edd) Reedhead of FL, Darla (Robert) Quider of Myrtle Beach, SC, Joan Hallet of Myrtle Beach, SC; Several Nieces and Nephews
Predeceased by: His parents, an infant Brother and a Sister Barbara Neisbet.
Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral home, Belfast from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Monday where funeral services will be held Tuesday September 27, 2011 at 2:00 pm. The Rev. Charles Little, pastor of the Oramel United in Christ Community Church will officiate
Burial will be in Oramel Cemetery, Oramel.
