Obit: Corning Leader, Corning, NY; May 10, 2011 @ 10:58 PM

Bath, N.Y. — Mary E. Sorge, 91, of Bath passed away on Sunday May 8, 2011 at the Taylor Health Center.

She was born on September 6, 1919 in Wayland, NY the daughter of the late Jacob and Sylvia Wolfanger. She married Vincent Sorge on November 16, 1943.

Mary was a homemaker who loved gardening, quilting and making rag rugs which she sold from her home. She also worked for many years on the rug loom at the Steuben County Fair.

She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Vincent, brothers Charles, Ken, Bill, Fred, and Louie Wolfanger and sisters Anna Weiand, Hazel Wolfanger and Hilda Wolfanger.

She is survived by her sons Don (Penny) Sorge of Avoca, NY and Gene (Jean) Sorge of Campbell, NY, 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren, one brother John (Nancy) Wolfanger of Belleve, WA, and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are being observed on Thursday May 12, 2011 from noon to 2:00pm at the Bond-Davis Funeral Home of Bath where her Funeral Service will be held at the conclusion of Calling hours at 2:00pm with Pastor Alan Jones and Pastor Fred Dryer Officiating.

Burial will be held in Pleasant Valley Cemetery Hammondsport, NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mary’s name to the Hammondsport Ambulance Corp.
