CROWE RITES TO BE TOMORROW

RAYMOND R. CROWE, 61 LOCAL CIVIC LEADER, SUCCUMBS YESTERDAY

Funeral sevices for RAYMOND R. CROWE, 61, pominent local civic leader who died yesterday morning at 7:45 o'clock at his home at 189 Jackson Avenue, will be held at the home at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon. Dr. H.R. MacMillan, pastor of the First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

MR. CROWE, agent for the United Natural Gas Company here for the past 24 years, had been ill at his home since September 8, but his conditiion had not been regarded as critical. Death was ascribed in complication of ailments.

CRAWFORD COUNTY NATIVE

MR. CROWE for many years had been a member of the Bradford Rotary Club and a valued leader in the work of McKean County Society for Crippled Children, prime service activity of the local Rotarians. Last spring he directed one of the most successful drives for funds in the history of the Crippled Childrens Organization and served as Chairman of the Rotary Committee in charge of the local campaign.

He declined several times nomination for the presidency of the Rotary Club. He was a man of exceptional ability and character and was well-known and respected throughout this area.

MR. CROWE was born December 26, 1877 at Sagertown, Crawford County, Pennsylvania and had been engaged in the gas business during most of his adult life.

CAME HERE IN 1915

He entered the business in 1902 as an employe of the Mountain State Gas Company at Fink, W. Va. and two years later transferred to the Buffalo Natural Gas and Fuel Company, at Buffalo. In 1905 he joined the Oil City Fuel Company at Meadville and four years later he entered the general office of the United Natural Gas Company at Oil City.

On October 1, 1913, MR. CROWE was appointed agent for the firm at Tidioute and on March 1, 1915, he was transferred to Bradford as agent for the United Company, a positiion he held since that time. He also was an agent for the Smethport Natural Gas Company; a subsidiary.

He is survived by his wife; MRS. PEARL H. CROWE: a sister; MRS. EDITH HALL of Meadville; and two half-brothers, WILLIAM CROWE of Ridgway and FRANK CROWE of Cambridge Springs. A son, RAYMOND HAXTON CROWE, died January 18, 1924

Funeral services will be in charge of the McAllister Funeral Home.
