Edwin E. Maben, 79, of Bradford, passed away Wednesday (Jan 21, 2009) at the Bradford Manor.
Born Nov 6, 1929, in Bradford, he was the son of David M. and Katherine (Johnson) Maben. On May 23, 1975, in Lockport, N.Y., he married Cecelia W. Karczewski, who survives.
Mr. Maben was a 1947 graduate of Bradford High School, and after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and moved to Buffalo, N.Y., to work for the Ford Motor Co., until his retirement, when he moved back to Bradford.
He was a member of the VFW Post 212 and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters: Kathleen (Maben) Masisak; Kimberly Maben; and Kerry (Maben) Jackson, all of Bradford. A step-daughter, Wandamarie Maben of Bradford; two step-sons, Mark Karczewski of North Tonawanda, N.Y., and David Eller of Valley View, Texas.; two grandchildren: Lisa Larson and Ajalynne Kiser, three great-grandchildren, Abigail Larson, Rae el Larson, and Clayton Kiser, nine step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren: three brothers, David Maben and Leon Maben, both of Bradford, and James Maben of Westerville, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceded in death by his parents; our brothers, Donald, John, Ernest and Robert Maben; and three sisters, Nancy Maben, Helen (Maben) Johnson, and Evelyn (Maben) Roberts.
The family will be receiving friends from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., South Avenue, where funeral and committal services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday with the Rev. William Watson, pastor of the Foursquare Gospel Church, officiating. Burial and military honors will be accorded in Willow Dale Cemetery. Memorials, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
