: Helen H. Jones, lifelong Scio resident dies at 87

: SCIO -- Helen H. Jones, 87, of 4030 Main St. died Friday (Dec. 17, 1999) in her home after a long illness.

: She was born Dec. 28, 1911, in Scio, the daughter of Nathan S. and C. Mae Miles Hull.

: On Feb. 3, 1936, in Friendship, she was married to H. Glenn Jones, who died April 29, 1985.

: She was a lifelong resident of Scio and was a graduate of Scio High School.

: For several years she was employed at the Scio Central School cafeteria and also served as a kindergarten monitor for several years.

: She was a member of the Scio United Methodist Church, the Belmont Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, and the Scio Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

: Mrs. Jones was a former columnist reporting Scio news for both the Wellsville Daily Reporter and the Allegany County Democrat. She was also a former Goodwill Industries representative for Scio.

: She also was a rare donor-type blood donor for the American Red Cross.

: Surviving are a daughter, Jayne (Nicholas) Monoghan of Arkport; a son, Robert C. Jones of Scio; a granddaughter, Tori L. Scotchmer of Wellsville; two grandsons, Timothy N. Jones of Richmond, Ky., and Andrew Seaman of Hornell; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles M. Hull of Wellsville; a sister-in-law, Grace Voelker of Miami Springs, Fla.; four nieces; and a special friend and caregiver, Katie Ward of Scio.

: Besides her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Corretha Palmer, in 1989; a sister-in-law, Faith Hull, in 1989; a son-in-law, G. Mark Seaman, in 1987; and a niece, Dawn P. Gavin, in 1996.

: There will be no visitation.

: Services will be held at the Mulholland-Crowell Funeral Home in Wellsville Sunday (Dec. 19, 199) at 2 p.m. The Rev. Glen Layfield of the Scio Church of Christ will officiate. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Scio.

: Memorials may be made to the Scio Free Library, Scio United Methodist Church or the Scio Church of Christ.
