Marriage of Popular Bolivar Couple Took Place Here Saturday Evening.
Announcement is made of the marriage of Wallace Omar Newton and Miss
Vivian Alice Appleby, both of Bolivar township (Allegany Co., NY), which
took place at the Methodist Episcopal church in this village at seven o'clock
Saturday evening, Sept. 25. Rev.J.E. Balmer performed the ceremony which
was witnessed by Mr. & Mrs. Myron E. (Ruth Alva [Newton]) Buell. The
latter being a sister of the groom. ....
Following the marriage ceremony a reception was given the newly weds at
the home of the bride's parents, where a luncheon was served and a most
delightful evening passed... About 25 guests were present.
The bride is the youngest daughter of Highway Superintendent and Mrs.
Layton D. Appleby and was a former student at the Shinglehouse (Potter
Co., PA) high school. The groom, who is the eldest son of Mrs. Lulu
Newton, is a valued employee of the Mayrock Oil company of Bolivar. Mr.
and Mrs. Newton will reside in Bolivar township, where they have a host of
friends who join The Breeze in wishing them much happiness.
NOT IN NOTICE: Groom's parents were Thaddeus Edgar and Louise Ann
"Lulu" (Smith) Newton. Bride's parents were Layton D. and Alice (Wolcott)
Appleby. Wallace [7/22/1900-12/26/1980] and Vivian [1903-1989] had 5
children: Glenn Albert, Ethel (Newton) Straight, Lois Irene, Kenneth Allen,
