Marvin E. Goodnoe, a loving husband, father, grandfather and a friend to many, 45 years old, of 8456 Route 59, Lafayette, died Saturday, August 11, 2007 in Bradford Regional Medical Center, after an automobile accident.
Born December 16, 1961 in Bradford, he was the son of the late Donald Goodnoe and Patricia A. Goodnoe Severy. On October 18, 1997, in Bradford, he married Lori A . Goodrich, who survives.
Marvin was a 1980 graduate of Bradford Area High School, and he entered the U.S. Army after high school and served as a welding instructor until he was honorably discharged in 1995. He then entered the Pennsylvania Army National Guard in Kane. Mr. Goodnoe served nine months in Germany during Operation Enduring Freedom preparing for the invasion of Iraq. He also served 18 months in Iraq with Operation Iraq Freedom, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and many other medals awarded for his service He was currently a staff sergeant with 28 years of time served.
Mr. Goodnoe was formerly employed at Bisett Building Center, LER Concrete in Kane, Foxx Concrete in Kersey, Hanson Aggregate Products in Allegany, N.Y. He was currently employed by the State of Pennsylvania at CareerLink as the veterans representative for Potter County.
He was a member of the Lafayette Evangelical Christian Church, Lafayette Planning Commission and McKean Lodge 3388 F&AM; was very active and a lifetime member of the Smethport VFW and the American Legion Bucktail Post #138, and a volunteer for Letters From Home. He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
Surviving in addition to his wife are one daughter, Lena J. Goodnoe at home, two sons, Michael J. Goodnoe at home, and Thomas W. (Brooke) Hopkins of Bradford; three grandchildren, Kyle, Zachary & Cooper Hopkins; one uncle, Jerry (Elaine) Goodnoe of Long Beach, California; and his mother-in-law, Frances A. Goodrich of Bradford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant son, and his father-in-law, Vincent N. Goodrich.
Members of the McKean Lodge #388 conducted a Masonic service and Committal service with Military Honors were accorded in McKean Memorial Park in Lafayette. |
