Pre-deceased by Edward Beebe, brother, Stanley Cortright, brother-in-law, and Orma Mackey, sister-in-law.
Normalou is also much loved by several nieces and nephews.
Normalou attended Corning schools, and worked at the Corning Glass Works following graduation from Northside High School in 1953. She was active in Grace United Methodist Church in Corning, and she loved singing in the choir.
She married Welland Cortright in October 1955 and they lived in both Saugerties, NY and Applachin, NY.
Following his death in 1967, she moved back to Painted Post NY with five young children, where she resumed her activities at Grace Church.
She married John Rowe on February 19, 1971.
They were co-presidents of the Painted Post School PTA and Normalou was a part of the team that organized the parents initiative to support the West High School marching band. Normalou enjoyed golfing at Corning Country Club, where she was active in the social programs and the remodeling committee. She also enjoyed bowling at Crystal Lanes. She was a staunch supporter of volunteerism within the Corning LPGA. After her husband John Rowe retired, they moved to Hampstead NC where she was active in the Stephen Ministries and choir in the Hampstead United Methodist Church. She has many dear friends in that area and enjoyed bridge in the Hampstead community. When John and Normalou moved to Wilmington NC, she also sang in the choir in the Pine Valley United Methodist Church and belonged to the Coastal Carolina Emmaus Community.
Following John's death in 2001, she returned to Horseheads NY where she again became involved at Grace Church, Hospice and in her high school class alumni activities. Normalou was a loving wife, mother. grandmother and friend, and will be missed by many.
Normalou died on September 18 at St. Josephs Hospital, Elmira NY.
Memorials may be made to the Corning Grace United Methodist Church music department. Calling hours for Normalou will be held at Carpenters Funeral Home, LLC. 14 E. Pulteney St. Corning on Sunday from 3-5 PM. A Funeral service will be held at Grace United Methodist Church on Monday at 11:00 AM.
Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Corning.
