Carolyn M. Quagliana, age 82, of Corning, NY died at Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton, Florida on April 14, 2015 after a lengthy battle with cancer.
She was born in Corning on March 2, 1933 to Harold and Helen Moore Beebe. On September 12, 1953 she married James J. Quagliana, and they were blessed with two sons, Mark and James Jr.
Carolyn attended Corning Northside Schools, graduating from Northside High School in 1951. She was a school secretary for 31 years, working at St. Mary's School (1964-74), Corning Painted Post School District Personnel Office (1974-84), and Northside Blodgett Middle School (1984-95), until her retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Northside High School Alumni Council and the C-PP Retired School Secretaries Association. She enjoyed golfing, crafts, sewing, reading, computing, winters in Florida, and lunching with friends. Most of all, she enjoyed doing things with her grandchildren and attending their music and sporting events.
She is survived by her husband James and their two sons, Mark of Soldotna, Alaska and Michele of Big Flats, New York, and their daughters Lisa and Maria, also of Big Flats, James Jr. (Ann) and their son Michael of Northfield, New Hampshire. Brothers, Roger (Beatrice) Beebe and Gerald (Janet) Beebe of the Corning area, sister Esther Hall of Elmira, and sister-in-law Marilyn Beebe. Also, sisters-in-law Agnes (Quagliana) Garcia of Miami, Florida and Patricia (Quagliana) Ryan of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many special friends in Corning and Boca Raton, Florida.
She was predeceased by infants Maria and Thomas who died at birth, her parents Harold and Helen Beebe, brothers Douglas and Edwin Beebe, and sister Normalou (Beebe) Rowe.
Calling hours will be Monday, April 20, 2015 from 1 - 3 PM and 6 - 8 PM at Haughey Funeral Home, Inc., 216 E. First Street, Corning, NY. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 9:30 AM on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at St. Mary's Church, State Street, Corning, NY.
Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Corning.
