1937 - 2013
Frank Metcalf a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away in his home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer on May 11, 2013.
Frank was born in Olean, New York on April 30, 1937 to Charles Metcalf and Julia (Evans) Elniskey. After attending Olean High School, he joined the United States Navy. In 1961, he married the former Judy Nuthall, who survives him.
In 1965, he moved to Rochester, New York where he worked as a frameman and later as an installation/repairman for Rochester Telephone until his retirement.
In 1993, they moved to Cocoa, Florida, where he enjoyed his retirement. Frank enjoyed traveling and has seen many places including Costa Rica and Europe. He enjoyed his family and every summer would take his grandchildren on a vacation so they would have memories of spending time with their grandparents.
Besides his wife he leaves behind his sons Chuck (Carole) Metcalf, Christopher Metcalf, and his daughter Jennifer (Jen) Metcalf and four grandchildren Luke, Brody, Michael, and his little princess Lili. He also leaves his step-granddaughters, Catie Roth and Andie Sancarranco and a step great grandson Nathan Sancarranco.
Frank is also survived by his sisters, Joan Walsh, MaryEllen (Dave) Mendall, Kathleen (Drew) Gattuso, brother in laws, sister in laws and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Charles Metcalf, Thomas Metcalf and Michael Elniskey and his sisters Dorthey Dilley, Beverly Swatt and Nancy Coleman.
A Memorial mass will be held at Blessed Sacarament Church in Cocoa on Saturday, May 18 at 10:30 AM, with a celebration of Frank's life immediately following at the family home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Research Hospital or Hospice of St. Francis.
Burial will take place later in Olean, New York
