BELMONT - Lavern E. Scott, 65, of 5829 Tuckers Corners, died Friday, November 3, 2000 at Jones Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Born August 3, 1935 in Belvidere, he was the son of Edward and Rose (Mastin) Scott. On February 24, 1968 in Belmont, he married the former Lucille E. Royce, who survives.

Mr. Scott had resided most of his life in the Belmont area, and had attended Belvidere and Belmont district schools.

During the Korean Conflict, he served with the U.S. Army in the European Theater.

For many years, he was an operating engineer with the L.C. Construction Co., retiring in 1995. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and trapper.
Mr. Scott was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Belvidere and a member of the operating engineers union # 832 local of Rochester.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a step-son, Michael (Michele) Bidwell of Friendship; a daughter, Dixie Rose Scott of Belmont; a step-daughter, Deborah (Dwight) Ellwood of Wiscoy; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five brothers, Kenneth (Vivian) Scott of Richburg, Walter (Janice) Scott of Belvidere, Ernest Scott of Friendship, Donald Scott of Bolivar and Jack Scott of Black Creek; three sisters, Helen (Harold) Peterson of Wellsville, Pearl Gelser of Belmont and Clara Harris of Angelica; several nieces and nephews and many cousins.

Mr. Scott was predeceased by three brothers, Harold Scott, Leon Scott and George Scott, and a sister, Mabel Scott.

Friends may call at the Treusdell Funeral Home, Friendship, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today, where funeral services will be held Monday, November 6, 2000 at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Elizabeth Groskoph of Allegany County Episcopal ministries will officiate.

Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Belmont.

Memorials may be made to the Comstock Hospice Care Network, 6 South St., Belmont, NY 14813, or Amity Rescue Squad.
