"Bath of To Day"
'A Complete Business Directory
'

April 15, 1793

Just one hundred years ago today, Charles Cameron, with a band of 30
menn, landed near where the Lackawanna depot now stands, having come up the
river in boats, and immediately plotted the Village of Bath. Col Williamson
had selected this beautiful spot to build the metropolis of the west. He
made a good begining and had the citizens of Bath followed in the steps of
the enterprising redoubtable colonel, in all probabilities it would have
become as Williamson had hoped it to be. But if Bath has not become a city,
still it always has and is still famous for its beauty, grand social
entertainments and the hospitality of its citizens it quoted far and near.

Bath was very prosperous for years as the mercantile centre of the
county. But the advent of railroads and the starting of respectable stores
at every four corners, eventually cut off a good share of the business, and
Bath suffered a serious stroke. But our citizens awoke to the interests of
our place a few years ago, and by united effort have put Bath once more on
the road of a steady and substantial prosperity.

Bath today has about 3,500 population within the corporation and
contains about 1,000 buildings and a number will be built this season.

Below we give a directory of all business places. Portions of blocks
unoccupied or used for living rooms are not mentioned.
