announcing the death of his brother-in-law Rolland Farnham, formerly
of this place and late of Maryland where he received a kick from
a horse which resulted in his death. His remains were brought here
and buried in Potter Brook on last Friday where they had a daughter
buried. Funeral Services held in church at this place. Rev. J. W.
Miller preaching the funeral sermon to a well filled house. The
week of prayer will be observed here in this church commencing last
evening. |

Amanda Fletcher, who had long resided in this county. The other
came from West Union to pay a last tribute to Cynthia, wife of Allen
Houghtailing. This is the second wife Mr. Houghtailing has lost

February 28th in Buffalo, NY. He was a true son of the Stowell Dam
of Slate Run, 2 miles from the Jersey Shore turnpike in 1869. At
the time his parents by Pack Francis and Jennie Ashcraft Francis
were employed by Phelps and Dodge who were clearing the virgin pine
from the Black Forest. He is survived by his widow the former Margaret
Clulkey and 4 children: Mrs. Willard Lund, Miss Sybill Roger and
Miss Cynthia, all of Buffalo, one brother Jessie Francis of Hynerville
and one sister Mrs. James Jerolds of Stewardson. Buried in Buffalo. |
