Allen Rice

Allen Rice, a resident of Portville, built a dam across the Allegany River, in the year 1818, opposite what is now Westons Mills. There on the north bank of the river he built a sawmill.

This photo was extracted from "An Early History of The Town of Portville, New York", compiled by The Town of Portville Historical Society.
