At the outlet of the lake of the
same name, contains a hotel, a
grist-mill, district schoolhouse, and half a dozen dwelling-houses.
Here was established the first store and mills in the town, also the
only woolen-works that ever existed in Machias.These works of MESSR.
FOLLETT COLEGROVE, about 1835,
were kept busy day and night. People
came from distant places, camped out and awaited their turn to get work
